Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2025
StudyHub ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Information We Collect
a) Name (optional, stored locally)
When you first visit StudyHub you are invited to enter a first name. This name is stored only in your browser's localStorage and is never sent to our servers. You may skip this step or clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.
b) Study progress
Quiz scores, topic mastery, and chapter progress are stored in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable sync (see below).
c) Firebase (optional sync)
If you choose to enable progress sync, your study progress is stored in Google Firebase Firestore under an anonymous visitor ID generated for your session. We do not link this ID to any personally identifiable information. Firebase is governed by Google's privacy policy.
d) Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use StudyHub — which subjects are studied, how long sessions last, and which pages are visited. GA4 collects anonymised usage data including approximate location (country level), device type, and session behaviour. We do not enable Google Signals or cross-site tracking. You can opt out via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
e) AI Tutor (Google Gemini)
The AI Tutor feature sends your question text and the current topic name to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. We do not store these queries on our servers. Gemini API usage is governed by Google's AI terms. Do not include personal information in questions sent to the AI Tutor.
2. Cookies
StudyHub itself does not set any first-party cookies. Google Analytics may set cookies for session tracking. Your browser's cookie controls or a browser extension such as uBlock Origin can block these.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. The only third-party services we use are Google Analytics (usage analytics) and Google Firebase (optional progress sync), both operated by Google LLC under their respective privacy policies.
4. Data Retention
localStorage data persists until you clear your browser data. Firebase data (if sync is enabled) is retained for up to 12 months of inactivity. Analytics data is retained for 14 months in GA4 per Google's default settings.
5. Children's Privacy
StudyHub is designed for students aged 15 and above (CBSE Class 11/12). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided data through our platform, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete any data associated with your session. Because most data is stored locally in your browser, you can delete it by clearing your browser's site data for science.designogic.uk. For Firebase-stored data, contact us with your visitor ID (shown in browser developer tools under localStorage key visitorId) and we will delete it.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of StudyHub after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
